Yato may just be a minor god now, but he's determined to make it big and he's got a plan. Unfortunately, things just don't seem to be going his way. He doesn't have a single shrine dedicated to him, his partner has just quit, and now he's got to find a new divine weapon. Just when things look bleak, he meets a girl named Hiyori and changes her life forever.

Hiyori's first day at high school becomes a nightmare for her when Yato possesses her body, after she unintentionally slips out of it upon falling asleep. He uses Hiyori's body to his advantage by doing all sorts of embarrassing and over-the-top things to spread word of his services to the other students, with Kofuku joining in on the fun. Yukine tries to get Tenjin and Mayu to help put a stop to Yato's antics, but they too end up getting distracted. As Hiyori struggles to make Yato return her body, she and Yukine spot a perverted student, who sneaked a camera into the girl's changing rooms, and discover he has been possessed by a phantom. When the student attempts to jump out of the window upon being discovered, Yato manages to rescue him and subdue the phantom, but ends up breaking his (Hiyori's) shoulder in the process. As such, Yato is caught and given an appropriate punishment whilst Hiyori begins her next day of school with a bizarre reputation.

Life for minor god Yato isn't getting any easier. He's still broke, shrineless, and his partner-slash-sword-regalia has zero respect for him. Worse yet, Bishamon, one of the deadliest war gods, is after his life. Blaming him for the death of her past regalia, she won't stop until she kills him. But there's more to that story than she could ever realize. And as if that's not bad enough, there's someone working against her behind the scenes! Can Yato take on a god as powerful as Bishamon? Or will things take a more dangerous turn?

Right when he thinks things have settled down, Yato is forced into working with Nora and must brave the underworld in order to help a fellow god. The catch? He may end up stuck there if he can't figure out how to escape Izanami, queen of the underworld.

Between all of his godly drama, Yato still needs to figure out how to help Hiyori. But all options lead to losing her, and he's not willing to make that choice-no matter what.

16th volume DVD will adapt the manga's 41st chapter where the main characters go to "Capyper Land."
