The protagonist of this story, Sendo Aichi, is a timid boy in his third year of middle school. He had been living his life looking backward rather than forward, trying not to stand out. However, he had one thing that kept him going - the "Blaster Blade," a card from a card game that was given to him when he was little. That card is the reason why he begins to engage in Card Fights, something that changes his life drastically.

The name of the card game is "Vanguard." The game takes place in a different planet called "Cray," and due to a never before seen play system, it becomes popular throughout the world.

Aichi, immediately attracted by Vanguard, meets friends such as Togura Misaki and Katsuragi Kamui, along with other rivals. Through friendly rivalry with them, Aichi begins to enjoy a fulfilling life. Aichi, however, has a goal: to once again battle with a Vanguard Fighter by the name of Kai Toshiki. Kai Toshiki is an aloof and cold-hearted high schooler who has outstanding abilities in the world of Vanguard. He is also the reason why Aichi started playing the game. For him, Toshiki is the person who saved him from his boring life and introduced him to Vanguard. In order to get better at Vanguard, Aichi puts his soul into it every day. He wishes that someday, he'll be able to battle Toshiki and have him recognize his worth.

Aichi and his friends have won the National Tournament and decide to go their own ways until a mysterious boy named Takuto Tatsunagi appears. He reveals that the Royal Paladins, Dark Paladins, and Kagero leaders have been captured, and the only way to free Cray is for the Vanguard fighters to use a new power- Limit Break. Because the Royal Paladins lose the ability to fight, Aichi's deck is changed to be a Gold Paladin deck. Aichi and his friends must now win the Vanguard VF Circuit if they are to learn more about the occurrences on Cray and free their old friends.

A few months have passed since the VF Circuit, and Aichi is now in High School. However Aichi is in a different high school than most of his friends, a high school where the instructors focus on looking towards the future. One day Aichi admits he thinks Cardfight can be a future people can believe in, but in order to prove it Aichi must use his new deck, a deck in which Royal Paladins and Gold Paladins are combined as one force. Slowly but surely Aichi must gain friends through Cardfighting and help his new team win the newly formed high school cardfighting championships.

With no clues as to what's going on, Kai embarks on a journey to search for Aichi, armed with only "Blaster Blade", the symbol of their bond, as well as the Royal Paladin deck.

A hybrid anime/live-action movie for the series to be released Fall 2014.

After the events of Link Joker-hen, Aichi and Kai team up to a confront an enemy that threatens the peace they've just regained. The movie also covers the events leading up to Aichi's disappearance in Legion Mate-hen.

Depicting a youthful story about Cardfighters who clash passionately through challenges against each other, the new season follows the main protagonist, Aichi Sendou, as his life takes an exciting turn when he is reunited with Toshiki Kai, the person who gave him an important rare card, “Blaster Blade” from the game, “Vanguard”.

Story centering on the character Shinemon Nitta in his younger days as a third-year high school student before he becomes the manager of Card Capital. The story will be set about ten years before the events of Cardfight!! Vanguard: High School Arc Cont.

Kouji Ibuki is a Vanguard Fighter. One day, Ibuki was called out to the Tatsunagi residence, when he was suddenly transported to the -IF- world. But the -IF- world has a distorted history, where cardfighting doesn't exist!?

In the -IF- world, Ibuki met with some mysterious girls. The magical girl Emi Sendou, and the fairy of the cards Shuka. They are the "Blaster Pair" that summons units from cards in their battle against the evil minions of Jammer!

And so the quartet of Ibuki, Emi, Shuka, and Suiko Tatsunagi who was caught up in the situation, begin their journey to recover the true history.

Yu-yu is a boy living in Kanazawa, Kaga Province.
He is 15 years old and in his third year of junior high school.
He has the ability to sense the feelings of others, but he is troubled by the fact that he cannot say no when asked.

One day, Yu-yu could no longer stand going along with his sister’s hobby, so he ran away from home.
The one who saves him is Megumi Okura.
Megumi invites Yu-yu to a nighttime amusement park called “Wonder Hill” where her friends hang out.

At the amusement park, Yu-yu meets Megumi, Zakusa Ishikame, and Tomari Seto, members of “Team Blackout,” a group that meets to play Vanguard every night.

Tonight, a serious fight for the team’s flag will take place.
Blackout’s leader, Danji Momoyama, and the mysterious and powerful fighter, Tohya Ebata.
As Yu-yu stares at them, the card fight is soon eroded into a world of images.

This is how Yu-yu encounters Vanguard, a world he has never seen before, and is drawn in by its powerful allure- making new friends along the way.

Yu-yu Kondo loses to Tohya Ebata, and the banner that symbolizes Team Blackout goes up in ashes.

And while Yu-yu and his friends are still stunned by this turn of events, their leader Danji Momoyama returns and challenges Tohya to a Vanguard fight, a fight that ends in a clear victory for Danji.

As the group starts to shower Tohya with a deluge of jeers, Danji announces his departure from the team, and follows it up with appointing Tohya as the next leader, leaving the team members in shock.

Meanwhile, Masanori and Shinobu continue their banner hunt under the name of Team Daybreak, under the command of Haruka Sokawa.

And there is also the mysterious girl, Mirei Minae.

What awaits Yu-yu and his friends?

Yu-yu, Raika, and Touya were invited to America after their win in the “Deluxe” tournament in Japan, and went on a tour of exhibition matches.

It was one blazing fight after another as their opponents were all top ranking fighters from Deluxe USA. Danji, who had arrived earlier in America to look into the background of the Deluxe tournament at Michiru’s behest, begins to suspect a connection with the case of the missing fighters. Meanwhile, a new force emerges in Japan, with their ideal of achieving the “Ultimate Fight” in cardfights.

What is their goal of recruiting more and more fighters? This will eventually come to cast a shadow upon the future of Yu-yu and the rest of Blackout…
