The film centers on high school students Natsuki Enomoto and her childhood friend Yu Setoguchi. Natsuki hopes to confess her love to Yu but is unable to admit to her true feelings, and ends up telling Yu that she is simply practicing how to confess her love to somebody else. While Natsuki hides her true feelings for Yu, she is asked by her classmate Koyuki Ayase for a date. The story features the sweet but sometimes bitter trials and tribulations surrounding young romance.

On a dark night, the Japanese police is raided by a spy. Different countries' intelligence agencies—such as England's MI6, Germany's BDN, and America's CIA—as well as the FBI's secret files are going to be taken, but public safety officers lead by Tooru Amuro arrive just in time. The spy steals a car and escapes. The spy and Amuro are then locked in a dead heat on the highway, and just as it is about to cause an accident with multiple cars, the spy's car is hit by FBI agent Shuichi Akai's rifle bullet and falls of the roadway.
The next day, Conan and his friends go to a newly-remodeled aquarium in Tokyo. Under the main attraction, a Ferris wheel, Conan finds an attractive woman alone and injured. Her left and right eyes are different colors.

But the woman is in a state of amnesia where she doesn't even remember her own name, and the cellphone she's carrying is broken. Conan and his friends promise to help her regain her memory, so they stay with her.

Throughout all this, Vermouth is watching behind the scenes. Afterwards, she pulls out a silencer and speaks into an attached intercom, "It's as planned, Gin."

Once Fu's camera is repaired, the other girls have a go with it, assuring Fu of new experiences that await and encouraging her to talk with both her family and Riho about studying in Tokyo. During the Christmas season, Kanae helps the girls study for their entrance exams before Sayomi takes everyone on a hiking trip to watch the first sunrise of the new year. Come January, Fu comes to stay with Chihiro as before taking her exams in Tokyo, after which she stops by Riho's gallery, where Riho offers to let Fu live with her if she passes. As everyone manages to pass their exams and together to hike up Mt. Asahi, Fu's camera permanently breaks after taking one last photo. Receiving a new digital camera from Natsume the same day, Fu brings all of her friends together to appear in its first photograph. Following graduation, everyone sees Fu off as she sets off for Tokyo. As everyone settles into their new routines, Fu keeps with her the last photo from her old camera and the first photo of her new one, both of which have tamayura.

The temple where Aiko lives has a strange sliding door that is only half painted. Aiko turns seventeen with an interest in painting but otherwise lacking ambition for her future. A mysterious man named Soji suddenly shows up and declares "kacchikene!" using the dialect spoken in Tokyo during the Edo period.

Ryouken, a young man who hates temples and monks, laments his misfortunes but finds hope in his soon-to-be-born child. An unfortunate accident took everything from Ryouken. In the days of self-abandonment and suffering in darkness, Ryouken finds the teachings of the high priest Rennyo. In it, he finds answers to the question "Why live" as explained by the sage Shinran. As he is drawn into the teachings and no longer hesitates, Ryouken becomes Rennyo's apprentice. The number of worshippers increase, but the Honganji temple becomes a target of the other sects, forcing Ryouken and Rennyo to flee from Kyoto. In order to find a new place to teach, they arrive in Yoshizaki (now in Fukui Prefecture) in the Hokuriku region.

The story begins when Shimajiō and his friends go to the sea and find a picture book that Shimajirō had treasured in his childhood. When they hear a voice beckoning them from the book, they are drawn into the world of the book. There, they meet Puni-tan, and find a town of sweets in the middle of a forest. Shimajirō must find a way to return to his world.
